Listen to Sr. Automation Engineer Angie Jones as she goes over technical job interview questions for test automation positions and answers them, step-by-step.
Test Automation Engineers are in high demand, but that doesn’t mean companies are willing to lower the bar in hiring for these roles. With test automation projects failing left and right, flaky tests crippling continuous integration pipelines, and automated tests causing maintenance nightmares, managers can’t afford the risk of hiring automation engineers who are not strong programmers.
Unfortunately for us, this means that the interview process for automation engineers has become a lot more difficult. Gone are the days where you’re asked about identifiers for web elements, or to write a simple login script using the Selenium WebDriver API. Today’s technical interview for an automation engineer is on par with that of a software developer.
Angie Jones, Senior Software Engineer in Test at Twitter, has been on both sides of the table as an interviewer and interviewee. Listen to Angie as she goes over sample technical job interview questions, and provides step-by-step guidance on how to solve them.
