Applitools Secures $2.5M Series A Funding From Magma Venture Partners to Enhance its Cloud Based Service for Automated Testing of Web and Mobile Applications
TEL AVIV, Israel, July 8, 2014 – Applitools, pioneers in cloud based automated visual UI testing of web and mobile applications, has secured $2.5M Series A funding from Magma Venture Partners.
Applitools enables users to automate tests that can only be done manually without it. It validates that an app looks right and works well on multiple browsers, devices, and form-factors, and this enables fully automated Continuous Deployment process.
Applitools launched its cloud-based service in Nov 2013, and has over 1,500 users who have performed over 750,000 visual tests. Applitools’ customers include large enterprises, SMBs and startups that develop web and mobile applications for their customers or for internal use.
“We are proud to have customers like Wix, Viber, SAP, AOL, Navinet, SitterCity, Handybook and Conduit, among many others. We plan to use the funding to strengthen our marketing efforts, and enhance Applitools’ abilities to support the development, testing and monitoring needs of web and mobile app developers”, says Gil Sever, CEO and Co-Founder of the company.
“Applitools has increased our testing capabilities for the new versions of our cloud-based web development platform” Says Itay Shmool Director of Quality Assurance at Wix. “Applitools also has reduced testing times for new versions, and has provided us with faster and better testing coverage, all with less managerial effort. In addition to pre-deployment testing, Applitools also assists us in monitoring our live production websites”.
Gil adds: “Modern software development methodologies like Agile, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Deployment, together with the exponentially growing number of browsers and mobile devices, necessitates the radical acceleration and enhancement of existing test automation tools. Applitools’ Visual Testing technology dramatically accelerates testing time, improves test coverage, and minimizes the number of bugs that can “sneak under the radar”.
“Applitools’ unique IP that uses advanced computer vision technology to recognize the various visual components of an application and compare them to a baseline image, position the firm to become a leader in the UI test automation market,” says Yahal Zilka, Managing Partner at Magma. “Clients are impressed by Applitools’ versatility and its ability to function in tandem with preexisting testing software in addition to its use as a standalone tool. Furthermore, Applitools fits our vision and strategy within the SaaS and cloud space.”
